The series follows Makio Koudai, a 35-year-old novelist, and Asa, her 15-year-old niece, who start living together in the same house. Makio suddenly decides to take Asa in after the death of her parents, including Makio’s elder sister, who dies. The next day, Makio realizes that she is not good at being around people. Then, their everyday life begins, when Makio is struggling to adjust to living with a roommate, while Asa is trying to get used to an adult who doesn’t act like a grown person.
